David Clayton received his Ph.D. from Rockefeller University in 1985. He is a professor in the U of I Department of Cell and Developmental Biology and a part-time faculty member in the Beckman Institute NeuroTech Group. He is also affiliated with the Bioengineering Department, the Neuroscience Program, the Institute for Genomic Biology, and the Agricultural Genome Sciences and Public Policy Graduate Program. His field of professional interest is molecular neurobiology.

Honors: Scientific Advisory Board, National Parkinson Foundation (1999); University Scholar, U of I (1996-1999); Whitehall Foundation Research Award (1988-1992); NSF Graduate Fellow (1981-1984).
