Professor Gerard Wong received his BS degree in Physics from Caltech, and his PhD in Physics from U.C. Berkeley. He subsequently had two postdoctoral appointments, one at the FOM Institute for Atomic and Molecular Physics in Amsterdam, and one at U.C. Santa Barbara, jointly in the Materials Science, Physics, and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Depts. He joined the faculty at U of I in 2000 as an assistant professor of Materials Science and Engineering, and as an affiliate faculty member of the Beckman Institute 3D Micro- and Nanosystems group in 2004.
Honors: Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship (2004), Donald Burnett Teacher of the Year Award (2003), Beckman Young Investigator Award (2001), Apker Award from the American Physical Society.
