The Beckman Institute lost a valued colleague this year when External Relations Manager Catherine Zech passed away after a long and brave battle with leukemia.
Catherine had worked at Beckman since 2000 and was the guiding force behind the Institute’s annual reports, Open House, events, and public affairs.
Beckman Director Pierre Wiltzius described Catherine as a “bright, shining light” who lived life to the fullest and performed her job tirelessly. Wiltzius said Catherine’s leadership, wisdom, and most of all, her friendship, will be greatly missed. “She was one of the bravest, most upbeat people any of us has ever known. She set an example for everyone who knew her on how to be a good and complete person. We are proud to have known her and we will never forget her.”
